As some of you will have already heard we are trying to get a race team together to compete at this years NSSA Regatta being held at Grafham Water 23-31 July.

I am delighted to announce that Tom Haslam has kindly agreed to be the team manager and coach.  Tom brings a wealth of valuable experience with him having been an LSSA squad member himself for 4 years prior to going to university.  Whilst at Uni he has continued his enthusiasm for sailing becoming both the captain of the 1st & 2nd teams AND Commodore of Sheffield University Sailing Club.  Tom has also worked for three seasons as a professional sailing instructor for Rockley Watersports and has taught literally hundreds of children and adults.  Pre regatta training and team building is high on Toms list of priorities and although time is tight more information regarding this will follow when arrangements have been made.

Initially I will be organizing the admin side of the operation, as Tom is not available to get too involved until the middle of June. For those who don’t know me, I am Elle Hopkins mum and for those who do know me you will realise that I have no sailing experience.  My role will be as the required female adult and to help with the more domestic & logistic duties of getting sailors out of bed, fed & in their boats hopefully at the right time & in the right place.  As Eleanor will confirm I am highly qualified in nagging, shouting and holding coats should any of these skills be required!

The costs for the week including entry fee, camping & meals and a Team polo shirt is as follows:

Singlehanders transporting own boat – £295
Doublehanders transporting own boat – £270 (each)
Singlehanders with LSSA transporting boat & sailor – £375

These costs are based on full fees & entries being placed with the NSSA by the 1st June, which will therefore require all paperwork & payment to reach me NO LATER THAN Thursday 26th May.  I do apologize for the short notice but this has all been pulled together very quickly, in fact in just over a week and we must act fast to get the discounted rates.  Entries made after this date will be an additional £30 per sailor.
