Junior 2010 Season

Boats

Hello All,

Hope you’ve all had fun since I wrote to you last.

As the 2010 sailing season is rapidly approaching I thought I’d better write and let you know what’s coming up.

  • On the 26th March we are having a junior sailors meeting to let you know what’s coming up, discuss what you’d like to see happening and get your feedback. Meeting starts at 1930 for about an hour or so. We’ll lay on some food for after so it will be a good chance to socialise with a few people you may not have seen for a while.
  • On the 27th March it is the first event in this year’s North West Junior Travellers Trophy at Hollingworth Lake. A number of you took part last year and I know there is a lot of interest for this year. Further details can be found by going here – http://www.nwjtt.org.uk.
  • On the 28th March, it is the first day of Sunday sailing at the sailing club. Despite the water level being down, a full season of sailing is planned.
  • One important thing for this year before you go sailing at the club is that you will need to present a copy of your boat insurance before you get a berth and will be allowed on the water. If you bring it along to the sailors meeting on the 26th I will make a copy. Alternatively, bring it on Sunday 21st or 28th and present it to the Club Captain, Dennis Shevelan.
  • The first Friday night sailing is due to happen on the 16th April. Rather than waste a night’s sailing (weather permitting!!!) on the 16th we’ll hold a registration session on the 9th April to get everybody signed up and so we can get everyone sorted into appropriate groups.
  • Looking a bit further in advance, on the 15th May we are having a Spring Ball, fancy dress!!! The theme is “James Bond” so you can come dressed as the hero or a villian.
  • Even further ahead, the Christmas Party and prize giving will on the 12th December so book your holidays around that.

I’m putting together a year planner to send out to you all shortly so you can stick it on the fridge.

Speak to you all soon,

Simon Craig
