A week of travelling

Andrew | July 31, 2008 | 4:56 am

With next week being Bass Week and also the GP14 Worlds, it’ll be a quiet week at the club.

As of yesterday, there are 8 boats registered for the GP Worlds, so good luck and bring back some trophys!

I think there’s a smaller contingent of members off to Bass than usual, but we’ll hopefully do the club proud and pick up some prizes. I’ll be (hopefully) blogging from the event and also posting some photos too. That’s as long as my mobile broadband will work up in the middle of nowhere!

Also, David and Lesley are off to Chichester for a Graduate event…a good time at the club then to get in some decent points!

Oh, and don’t forget, there’s no Junior training this Friday, or the two Fridays after.

Synergy

Andrew | July 2, 2008 | 10:53 am

In the last week of June Bolton Sailing Club and Pendle Community High School combined together to give every student in school a unique sailing experience regardless of their disabilities. The school and club have been in partnership for the last 3 years providing sailing to the year 11 pupils as part of their PE curriculum. This year the aim was for every pupil in the school with their teachers and support staff to have an enjoyable sailing experience at the lovely setting of Belmont Reservoir. The pupils had the opportunity to sail Access dinghy’s, Optimists, GP14’s and a Torch as well as trips around the lake in the rescue boat.

Regatta Day

Andrew | July 2, 2008 | 4:40 am

Sunday saw a change in racing format to help raise money for the RNLI at our annual Regatta Day. The order of the day was for three pursuit races and a fun team race.

The first and third pursuit races were run on standard PY handicap, the second on personal handicap. Prizes were presented by the Mayor of Bolton with the winners prize going to Ian Platt and Alex Pilkington sailing a Merlin Rocket.

Whilst racing proceeded on the water, the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton were entertained in the lounge by the Commodore and many of the clubs senior and life members while juniors had their faces painted. Hopefully a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all. Thanks to the OOD and other volunteers.
