Southport Junior 12 Hour Race

Andrew | January 9, 2006 | 12:40 pm

Bolton Sailing Club intends to enter the Junior 12 Hour Race at Southport Sailing Club in 2006. The event is held on the Marine Lake at Southport at the end of June.

Bolton Sailing Club has won six times since the event started in 1986, more than any other club. The last time the club took part was 2001 Mike Senior, the current GP14 National Champion was a team member and Bolton won.

Those who would like to know more about the event visit Southport Sailing Club’s website www.southportsailingclub.org.uk

The race is restricted to International Enterprise, G.P.14 and Bosun dinghies. The course is similar to the West Lancs 24 Hour Race, triangular and approximately 1.5 kilometres long.

Competitors must be under the age of twenty years on the day of the race. If you are eligible and would like to take part contact the Team Captain Mark Platt on tel: 01204 491482 or email: mark.platt@mouchelparkman.com

Training will start on Friday nights at the end of April and will be run in association with Robert Wheeler’s RYA Youth Training Scheme.

Any members who would like to help with the training or lend a double handed boat to help with the training please contact Mark.
