A Good Year for Supernovas

Andrew | December 5, 2005 | 12:41 pm

On behalf of the Supernovas, I’d like to welcome three newcomers to the fleet (but not to sailing!) this year: Mike Critchley (551), Keith Roberts (519), and Len Allison (517). All have previously served time in GP14s.

2005 has been another good year for the Bolton Supernova Fleet on the Open circuit:

  • Tony Wild started the year as he meant to carry on by winning the Winter Champs, with Andy Flitcroft 3rd
  • Team Bolton won the team prize on the sea at the National Champs (Porthpean SC), with Andy Flitcroft 3rd, Tony Wild 7th, Tony Critchley 10th, and Ian Moodie 11th. We even got an interview on Radio Cornwall,…not bad for “pond sailors”! Hopefully both listeners enjoyed the report !!
  • We also smashed the opposition at the Sea Champs (Pwllheli) for the second consecutive year, with Andy Flitcroft 1st, Tony Wild 2nd, Tony Critchley 3rd, and Mike Lockyer 8th.
  • Just for a change, we won team prize at the Inlands Champs too a twin foot pump each…. we just need someone to show us how to use them now. Tony Wild 1st, Andy Flitcroft 5th, Tony Critchley 9th, Ian Moodie 17th, Jeff Robinson 24th, Mike Lockyer 29th, Helen Brittan 30th, Keith Roberts 42nd.
  • Overall, Andy Flitcroft won the Travellers Series for the third time, in spite of missing 5 events. The other Bolton boats attended fewer events, and would otherwise have been much higher up in the series results. Helen Brittan 23rd, Tony Wild 25th, Tony Critchley 26th, Ian Moodie 35th, Jeff Robinson 40th, Mike Critchley 57th, Mike Lockyer 70th
  • In the individual Travellers Series events, we kept confuse the opposition:
    •  Blithfield: Andy Flitcroft 1st, Tony Wild 2nd (in spite of a broken forestay!), Tony Critchley 9th
    • Bolton: Tony Wild 1st, Tony Critchley 3rd, Andy Flitcroft 4th, Ian Moodie 6th, Mike Critchley 9th, Jeff Robinson 12th, Helen Brittan 15th, Mike Lockyer 17th, Richard Edmundson 24th
    • Cotswolds: Andy Flitcroft 1st, Jeff Robinson 8th Northampton: Tony Wild 1st, Tony Critchley 2nd, Andy Flitcroft 3rd
    • Oxford: Andy Flitcroft 1st
    • Severn: Andy Flitcroft 3rd
    • Leigh & Lowton: Andy Flitcroft 1st, Ian Moodie 6th, Helen Brittan 8th
    • Bartley: Andy Flitcroft 2nd, Helen Brittan 20th

So, if you’re thinking of buying a singlehander,… look no further !

Andy Flitcroft
